Onboard Live 3D Scan plan

The Veo+ embedded modeling tools support multiple probes and scans, enabling quick and efficient set up of inspection plans. Choose from a range of weld geometries, render and visualize probes on the part, at precise locations, representing reality with high fidelity. Then add sound paths, with skips, allowing assessing and ensuring proper coverage as planned in the scan plan.

The VEO+ embedded modelling tools are invaluable assets and a reference for the inspection report, communicating inspections results more completely and more clearly, as well as providing precious information to increase users’ level of expertise. This feature makes the VEO+ a choice of excellence for serious NDT schools looking to provide the best academic training to the future inspectors.

SONATEST - ULTRASOUND PHASED - ARRAY INSTRUMENT

X-32 (32 - channel ultrasound phased-array instrument)

General Information

The X-32 is the World's first hand-held, battery-operated ultrasound phased array instrument for NDE. It supports up to 32 channels, both for pulsing and receiving and is compatible with standard Hypertronics connectors.
With its own internal storage, the X-32 can make a real-time continuous recording of the inspection. The X-32 software unit is based on bulletproof Linux operating system.

An inspection using ultrasound phased array technology has many advantages:

  • Simultaneous multi-angle and multi-depth inspection with one probe
  • Positionable and measurable focusing
  • Larger examination coverage without moving the probe
  • Improved accuracy
  • Pie-shaped image (sectorial scan) analysis
  • Very high volume resolution
  • 3D inspection of a volume
  • Electronic scanning to reduce manual movement
  • Reduced inspection time
  • Reduced exposure to radiations
  • The X-32 optimizes the advantages of phased array with:

It provides:

  • Faster inspections
  • More reliable inspections
  • Easier inspections

Veo Phased Array Flaw Detector

The veo Phased Array ultrasonic flaw detector reinforces Sonatest's reputation for innovative technician focused product development. The veo's simple controls, superior performance, advanced features and rugged enclosure deliver simplicity, capability and reliability to the technician's finger tips.

Veo Simplicity
The intuitive menu system is application and workflow driven, with set up and operation swiftly becoming second nature. Integrated Help and Wizards guide the user through scan set up whilst Optimisation Tips ensure the veo always performs at the highest level. The unique 3D ScanPlan view gives immediate visual confirmation of correct set up and ultrasound coverage, even in complex multi-probe applications.

Veo Capability
The powerful veo platform unlocks a new level of performance in a portable instrument, helping you to maximize your efficiency on-site. The Inspection Plan shows the operator in 2D and 3D where probes are positioned on the test part, simplifying the inspection setup and providing an inspection reference for reporting. All adjustments to focal laws are instantaneous, with angle resolution to 0.1° and up to 1024 focal laws without loss of performance.

Veo Reliability
Robust design and proven reliability are essential attributes in demanding NDT environments. Down time is expensive and should be minimized to ensure maximum productivity. Sonatest's reputation for rugged construction and high quality products has been earned over 50 years serving the industry. The veo is constructed to exacting standards using a rigid, shock mounted, internal chassis surrounded by an impact absorbing enclosure and sealed to IP65.
Bridge and Hanger Pin inspections typically involve long ultrasonic sounds paths to detect small indications. Rising to this challenge, the Sonatest veo 16:64 is a multi-technique instrument featuring high pulser voltage, with an impressive signal-to-noise ratio

The veo's robust design, intuitive user interface and extensive online help brings the power of Phased Array to the field based technician.

Veo 16:128

NEW The veo 16:128 Phased Array ultrasonic flaw detector builds on Sonatest’s legacy for innovative technician focussed product development. Using 128 element probes this model provides more power for on site inspection and offer further further functionality including TOFD & Interface Triggering (TCG/DAC). Simple controls, advanced features and rugged enclosure deliver power and superior performance to the technician's finger tips. Ultrasonic Phased Array inspection techniques are becoming the leading method for advanced NDT inspection. Applications typically include Weld Inspection, Corrosion Mapping, Aerospace and Composite Testing amongst others.

The new veo 16:128 enables the end user technician to use 128 probe elements for inspection and makes it possible to connect to larger single probes or multiple probes.

This increase in power and capability is important for weld inspection applications, where a linear scan from both sides of the weld is needed. The new veo 16:128 can utilise a pair of 64-element probes, allowing inspection to be carried out in a single pass, improving both the speed of inspection; and positional accuracy since the two probes are linked together.

Efficient and effective scanning can also be achieved when the new veo is partnered with Sonatest’s large Wheel probe which is capable of scanning a strip of up to 100mm in a single pass. The system is Ideal for large area scanning applications and corrosion inspection.

Aerospace composite inspection applications are enhanced using the 128 element capability; as several inspection techniques for advanced materials such as GLARE have now been developed which require high resolution probes with 96 or 128 elements.

Further benefits to the new 16:128 veo include the capability of pitch-catch inspection techniques, merged c-scan inspections, top views and included UT Studio viewing and analysis software.

As with the 16:64 the menu system is intuitive and application and workflow driven, with set up and operation swiftly becoming second nature. Integrated Help and Wizards guide the user through scan set up whilst Optimisation Tips ensure the veo always performs at the highest level. Fast and efficient wizards for sound velocity, wedge delay, TCG, DAC, TOFD setup and Encoder calibration are all provided as standard.
